Jay was born in Wheeling WV where he still resides. He grew up living a lifestyle steeped in the outdoors. Early on he learned to sew the gear he wanted because his family was poor and we could not afford to buy the stuff he wanted. Then when he could buy the gear he found it lacking in quality and it was poorly designed. So, he continued making his own gear.
