Who we are

Nessmuk’s is owned by Zack & Tracy Buck. A shared love of the outdoors led them on a long winding path on the way to opening this charming shop located in a 150 year old storefront in the small town of Morris, Pennsylvania. Surrounded by public land and its associated conservation history, Nessmuk’s offers a unique mix of heirloom quality outdoor goods, restored vintage items, and gear of their own design.

Zack grew up in the outdoors, learning to be a sportsman from his grandfather, a conservationist and leader from the Scouts, a survivalist from his father, and an adventurer with his brothers, causing many grey hairs for his mother, who fostered in him a love of learning. Zack is an accomplished gunbuilder and outdoor writer.

Tracy’s love of the outdoors blossomed alongside her love for Zack, her high-school sweetheart. Together they went camping and hiking. Tracy joined the Scouts, becoming a patient and compassionate teacher and leader, even leading a crew on a trek at the famous Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Tracy sits on the board of This Is My Quest, a charity focused on access to the outdoors and conservation education.

Married for 16 years, the couple has three children, Gwen, Evie, and Charlie. Benefiting from the home-schooled lifestyle, the children have been free to explore a myriad of experiences, facilitated by their parents.

Gwen is a sportswoman and entrepreneur, having started a maple syrup business at 8 years old using her grandfather’s unused equipment and tutelage. She has since expanded into a variety of jams, jellies, and other canned goods. 13 years old at the time of this writing, she spends her days roaming the public land behind the house, with traps, fishing rod, or camera in hand. She sits on the Junior Board of Directors at This Is My Quest, is a member of the Morris Rod & Gun Club, assisting in their co-operative trout nursery and stocking program, and is on a local archery team.

Evie takes a more relaxed and contemplative approach to the outdoors. A young naturalist at heart, she loves finding and watching small creatures interact with their environment. 11 years old at the time of this writing, she enjoys playing outside with her brother Charlie, hiking, kayaking, or just relaxing in a hammock with a sketchbook.

Charlie is 8 at the time of this writing, and he is a typical rambunctious young boy. An explorer at heart, he enjoys family hikes, building and playing in forts with his sisters, and stocking trout with the Morris Rod & Gun Club.
